preparing for a season of thanksgiving

Psalm 107:8-9KJV

8 Oh that men would praise the Lord for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men!

9 For he satisfieth the longing soul, and filleth the hungry soul with goodness.

Today, I just want to give God praise. God is so deserving no matter what is going on in our lives right now. It’s so important just to take time and give God praise because he loves to hear the sound of praise.

If you have said to yourself what do I have to give God praise for, well if you can even ask yourself that question it means you are still in the land of the living, and if you know how to ask that question it means you are in your right mind, so those are two things you can thank God for.

Sometimes we are always asking God for blessings that we rarely take time to appreciate him for the blessings we do have. Think of a child who ask his or her parents for new toys every other month, when they have a room full of toys they don’t even play with. As a parent I would be hesitant to buy more toys, when my child has barely touched the ones I recently purchased.

I am not saying that’s how God thinks, but let’s show him that we are grateful and thankful just because of who he is.

As we exit out of the month of October let’s begin to prepare for a season of thankfulness. Yes, the year 2020 has been challenging but let’s begin to reflect on the positivity in spite of the difficulties we have faced.

Sometimes all it takes is a reflection, and to allow our thoughts to go down memory lane. Let go of the angry, bitterness, resentment, all the negative feelings and relish in the moment that you made it this far.

Tips for preparing your spirit for worship and praise:

  1. Make your praise and worship personal. Only you really know who God has been in your life.

  2. Find a quiet place that you feel is comfortable whether inside or outside.

  3. You could also listen to worship songs with or without lyrics.

  4. Reflect on who God is, his creation, past, present, future blessings, and begin to thank him.

  5. Lift your arms up to God and open the palms of your hands, as a sign of surrender and invitation to God.

  6. Do as the spirit leads, you can be audible or allow your mind to do the praise and worship.

These are ways in which I have used to praise and worship God, and every time it may be different, I’m just led by the spirit of God and I advise you do so as well.

Be Blessed!
