Why Are You Putting Limitations On God?

Jeremiah 32:27 (KJV)

27 Behold, I am the Lord, the God of all flesh: is there anything too hard for me?

As I was lying in bed reading I began to pause and meditate about all the times God has remained faithful to me.  Having an analytical mindset I was curious as to whether people actually do an assessment on whether God answered their prayers.

I started recounting some of the prayers I’ve asked for such as - protection through the day and night, protection from COVID-19 for me and my family, travel mercies to and from as I drive or fly for business or personal, financial stability, and a closer relationship with God to name a few.

In my assessment, I found that God answered every one of those prayers.  However, the question that surfaced is - why do we put our prayer requests in categories?  It seems as though, prayers that are daily or routine, we have no problem petitioning God for.  But when it comes to major health concerns, a house that the loan officer denied us for, the uncle who has been addicted to drugs for twenty years, favor in a seven-year court case, or other prayers that are not daily or routine there is some doubt, hesitation, and lack of faith.

We immediately put limitations on God.  Why do we limit Him to daily and routine prayers?  Especially when He has told us that there is nothing too hard for Him (Jeremiah 32:27).  And to ask and we shall receive (Matthew 7:7).

I know some of the reasons are because we believe that we are not worthy or good enough, but your ways and thoughts are far from God.  If the children of Israel were bold enough to repeatedly disobey God and rebel against Him, but still petition Him for blessings after blessings.  What makes it so different for you?  You are also his children, and He desires that you have a life filled with hope (Jeremiah 29:11).  He wants every situation to work out in your life.

God knows in advance the challenges and obstacles you will face, but He yearns for you to seek Him.  Please don’t hold back on taking your petitions to the feet of God because you think they are too big, or He will not answer them.  Let God be God.  Just as your parents would tell you.  Let me take care of this, you stay in a child’s place.  That’s what God is whispering in your ears.

Jeremiah chapter 32 is a testament of God’s unlimited grace and mercy.  Once again the children of Israel were in a rut in which they cause upon themselves.  But in their guilty state, they still had bold faith that somehow their God, who can do the impossible would come to their rescue.  And according to their faith, God rescued them from the King of Babylon.  They were guilty as charged, but He just could not allow His Heirs to suffer.

God feels the same about you.  So, hold your head up and go to your Father knowing and believing that your prayers will be answered.

Prayer:

God, thank you for being an immutable God whose promises are even for the generation of today.  God, I ask that you guide our belief and understanding in a way that we never second guess your promises.  God get us to the point that we truly believe there are no limitations to the blessings you want to bestow upon us.  Father, we thank you in advance for answering this prayer in Jesus Name Amen.
